Stories of Hope

Hear from the people we've helped.

“The process and the navigation of the whole system is very confusing, and daunting if you're just by yourself. I feel like Havensafe made everything so much more manageable and easier because they kind of handled everything for me… that was really, really nice because I felt like I just kind of got to sit back during one of the most stressful times of my entire life, and I had help—somebody actually helped me through it.”

The Funding Gap

71% of clients don't qualify for traditional public funds.

Before Havensafe came on the scene, roughly 71% of clients had to wade through hundreds of private funding sources to uncover a social services program that fit their needs. Havensafe ensures that these households never fall through the cracks into homelessness.

Eligibility

Who is eligible for help from Havensafe?

  • Anyone in Santa Clara County can call 650-674-2836. During the call, an intake coordinator will first find out whether the caller has any likelihood of getting help from the Homelessness Prevention System (HPS) or the county's Emergency Assistance Network (EAN). If they have a chance, then they will be transferred to the HPS voicemail inbox.
  • If the household is unlikely to get help from county resources, then we collect their info and send it to our case worker. The case worker sends them a custom plan with details about which rent assistance programs they will likely qualify for.
  • If a client does not qualify for any accessible third-party rental assistance programs, they join our short waitlist to get funding via Havensafe.
  • While they are on the waitlist, we can call their landlord in hopes of de-escalating tensions. Our goal is to ensure that a court case is not filed.
