Volunteer are the lifeblood of a new nonprofit! Here are some volunteer roles that we need your help with!
Havensafe Call Center Support
In the space of social services, it is unfortunately rare for an organization to be responsive and pro-active when a household is in desperate need of help. We are dedicated to having live humans answer the phones to begin developing a sense of trust with the families we serve. Even if you don't have all of the answers then-and-there, you can provide the family with an urgently-needed basic overview of the resources that exist.
Come see first hand what it is like to experience poverty amidst affluence in Santa Clara County. This volunteering experience will likely shift your perspectives and have a lasting impact!
Minimum Involvement: 4 Hours per month x 6 months
Client Outreach - Neighborhood Ambassadors
Some cities, like San Jose, currently require landlords to report all eviction notices to the city. Havensafe is working with city officials to access this data and proactively reach out to households experiencing evictions to offer help. This is the most efficient and direct method for client acquisition.
For cities that don't require landlords to report all eviction notices, we need to engage at-risk communities to raise awareness about Havensafe. We need community ambassadors to be on the look out for eviction notices so they can let their neighbors know that Havensafe exists and is ready to help.
Minimum Involvement: None
Financial Coaching
Our goal is to empower our clients to build their credit and savings accounts so that the next time they encounter a crisis, they can manage the situation on their own. Havensafe does not currently have a maximum number of times that a client can come get our help, but we working to build a financial and life coaching program so that we minimize the number of repeat clients as much as possible.
Minimum Involvement: 4 Hours per month x 6 months
Event Volunteers
Havensafe co-hosts financial expertise courses to teach skills in budgeting, credit improvement, saving, and other important topics. As part of this initiative, we need volunteers to help hand out name tags and help with day-of coordination.
Minimum Involvement: 1.5 Hours (one time)
Administration
We need help with bookkeeping, IT, website, administrative tasks, and generally spreading the word.
